Serge Storms is a true Floridian. He loves the state. When he awakens, he has a smile on his face and a bounce in his step. He has a kind heart, that is when he isn’t killing or hurting someone. Although he only does that when someone has done a bad deed to one of his friends. Serge Storms is also a psycho and a master of crime, but still a nice guy.It is time for a road-trip, so Serge and his faithful buddy Coleman are off to visit retirement communities. While Serge is not ready for retirement, he wants to plan ahead, and besides, he likes retired people. They end up in Boca Shores, a retirement trailer park just outside Sarasota. They quickly make new friends and learn that many of the residents have been taken by non-ethical salesmen, who got them to buy things for their trailers that they neither needed or wanted.Serge learns the name of a couple of the salesmen and off he goes to pay a visit. At least when he murders someone, he does it in a unique way. Anyway, he is able to get monies back for the residents and he and Coleman become heroes in the retirement community. As the story continues, he discovers retired FBI agents in the Boca Shores community, and it appears that Russians from the cold war era are trying to kill them. Okay, that makes sense. Well, sort of.It has been awhile since this reader has read one of the wacky Serge Storms novels of Tim Dorsey, and his recently released “No Sunscreen for the Dead†is still wacky, and Serge Storms is still a psycho!
Another excellent adventure from the twisted mind of Serges ghost author,Tim Dorsey. I always love the inventive and creative methods to punish the villains. Who doesn't love BONUS ROUND!! Serge and Coleman guide this party towards another retirement community full of commie traitors and the patriotic best of America. I know you'll love this latest installment of insanity,Serge style. I highly recommend this book.
I love Serge & Coleman! This book was thoroughly entertaining. There are four characters in book series that I do not want to see on the big screen. Serge & Coleman are my top two. There is no actor out there that can handle their type of crazy. Please don't ever let them get caught! I laugh out loud when Serge goes on a rant. And his colorful way of doling out justice is priceless. Waiting patiently for their next jaunt around Florida!
How is that possible? Right?! I'm always astonished by the innumerable ways to kill someone with ordinary household items. My hat's off to Dorsey for enlightenment on that subject. I expect we haven't seen the last of Benten, Benson or whatever his name is, lol. The Serge continues with another historical lesson for the grandkids on our next car trip through Florida....
If you like slapstick comedy oh, you cannot go wrong with the books by Tim Dorsey. I have enjoyed everyone he has written to date, and this one may be the best yet. The exploitation of senior citizens by the unscrupulous characters in this book takes place other places than in Florida, as well, but Dorsey's hero finds a way to tip the scales of Justice in inventive and unique ways.
Serge and Coleman are back - and taking up for the "greatest generation". It's got it all - laughs, justice, twists, Coleman partying with the seniors, Serge dispensing justice to those who break the "social contract", patriotism, cold war spies, the FBI, whacky Florida-ism and history, and true friendship. Honestly, one of Dorsey's best. Read it once and am going to read it again !
Tim Dorsey’s lovable psychopath, Serge Storms, is back, trying to glean the answers to the mysteries of life from Florida’s older residents. Dorsey lightly cloaks his pungent take on 21st Century America in Serge’s observations, but the laughs are as plentiful as early bird specials in Sarasota.
I think the author is just going thru the motions.The first 7 or 8 were great. This, not so much, yet I still buy his books because I long for the old school serge and Coleman when the books were fearless and offensive.Serge is not as manic and Coleman only smokes.Also, Serge has lost his sex drive and his fetish for librarians. Author is just phoning it in. Give
