I am so grateful to Dr. Patty Ann Tublin for this book. In it, she explains why women often earn less than their male counterparts, and how their attitudes about money are at the root of this issue. She teaches us how to reset how we think of money and my favorite, in chapter 4, provides concrete ways to negotiate your worth in the workplace. Finally, she lays out how to create a budget. As I read the book, I realized how often I have left money on the table, and given away my professional services, because I thought I was being nice. I may have been nice, but I wasn't valuing my (very hard-earned) credentials. I have bought a second copy of the book and sent it to my daughter in college. I have urged her to share the book with her friends after she's done with it, and to start early on, in that very first job, to negotiate her pay so she earns her worth. A must read for every young woman starting out, and for every woman who wants to make what she deserves.

I read every word of Dr. Patty Ann's newest book, and it made me think long and hard about the many years of my working life. The book made me realize how one's upbringing and other environmental factors influence one's ability to negotiate fair pay. I have clearly increased the gender wage gap and am embarrassed at how I've done so. If only I had read this book 25 years ago. I feel like I've already sunk myself into a hole and can't dig myself out to be paid what I'm worth. I have tried unsuccessfully and will now try to use Dr. Patty Ann's advice to move forward with a different approach. An extremely insightful and practical book written to understand the inferior place women often find themselves in at the workplace and, more importantly, how to change that. Tublin analyzes the stereotypes society has applied to women when it comes to work and pay and how these suppress women. She teaches how to overcome those stereotypes and act in different ways, which yield results. As a bonus, the book includes a glossary of common financial terms. Important to read for men as well as women, to learn how the game has to change.

I have spent my entire career, in the recreation/camp/sports business, working with young men and women to maximize their gifts and personal talents. Although I did everything I could to help young women compete favorably, in 1972 Richard Nixon signed into law Title IX which forever leveled the playing field for men and women not only in sports but in every educational program that receives federal funding. It’s hard to believe that 44 years later women are still struggling to achieve equal acknowledgement and equal pay in the work place.As the father of 2 young female college students Dr. Patty Ann’s book couldn’t be timelier. I strongly recommend MONEY CAN BUY YOU HAPPINESS for them and all their sisters who will be entering the work place in the next few years. The advice is simple and straight forward. Be confident, be secure, do your homework (which comes naturally to young women) and where you start has a huge influence on where you finish. It’s a quick and easy read that could pay huge dividends.

Dr Patty Ann Tublin has put together a suburb step by step guide for getting what you are worth. While the book is framed from a woman’s perspective, as a Male I find that these tips work for both genders. This book will not be for you if you don’t want to do the work, it included a bunch of exercises and content that will require you to be an active participant rather than just a passive reader.All in all its highly recommended for who it was designed for, Women who are looking to make what they are worth. Although the messages and budget worksheets are a good fit for anyone who wants to get a better understanding of what they need/want and how to ask for it.

As a women's health professor, I am so excited to share this book with my students. Too often, we hear about the gender wage gap without offering any solutions. Dr. Patty provides a step by step path to gender wage equality without trying to turn women into men.
