This book provides a strong background and good details on almost all of the topics covered by the MCAT. I felt that it was particularly good when dealing with cellular metabolism, the musculo-skeletal system, the cardiovascular system, and the nervous system. I felt it was a little light in content when it came to microbiology and immunology (this may be skewed as I have a background in this) as well as the endocrine system. You should always supplement your studies with multiple sources in order to gain the broadest background.In short: I would definitely recommend this, but be sure to perform practice tests and questions as well as study other sources.
i tried other books available on this site and i have to say this is the best at least for me. The book works for me , because i needed a thorough review of my biology since i took the classes 4 years ago. Its very detailed so if you prefer a more condensed version look for another book. Its nice that is in color and i prefer that the paper is not glossy . For those that didn't know this is the same book that the company gives you when taking their class.
Great for the old MCAT!
This is one of the best MCAT biology reveiw books. It's detailed and would fit the best for the student who has prior solid foundation in Biology. It's good for the student whose MCAT goal > 30.
Somewhat more detailed that similar books. I often refer to it when I want a clear, concise summary that doesn't leave me wanting.
